Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
Background
In June 2012, the Department of Homeland Security announced a program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to protect individuals who entered the United States as young children.
Eligibility
You can apply for DACA if:
- You entered the United States before the age of 16;
- Have continuously lived in the United States since January 1, 2010;
- Were present in the United States on November 20, 2014;
- Either graduated or obtain a certificate that you completed high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or currently in school at the time you submit your application; and
- Not convicted of certain criminal offenses.

Procedure
Even if you find yourself in removal proceedings you will still be eligible for DACA.
